2.What is an ion nitriding process?
Ion nitriding is a chemical heat treatment process that can significantly improve the surface hardness, wear resistance, fatigue resistance and corrosion resistance of steel parts.
Place the parts to be treated in the vacuum ion nitriding heat treatment furnace, and fill the furnace with thin nitrogen-containing gas under vacuum conditions. The parts are connected to the cathode of the ion power supply, the furnace body is connected to the anode, and the anode and cathode are connected to hundreds of volts DC voltage. Due to the action of electric field, the rarefied gas in the furnace is ionized, nitrogen ions impact the cathode (part) directionally, and the surface of the part generates glow discharge and is heated. Under a certain atmosphere and temperature, the surface of the parts recombines and absorbs nitrogen atoms, forming a high concentration nitrogen-containing layer and diffusing to the center. After a period of time, the nitriding layer required by the process requirements is obtained.
Ion nitriding process has been widely used in power, machine tools, petrochemical machinery, light textile machinery, tooling and other industries because of its advantages of energy saving, gas saving, high efficiency and good quality.
